Mahavira-The Enlightened One

“Mahavira-The Enlightened One” is a zinc-plate etching based on the life of Mahavira, the twenty-fourth Tirthankara. It was a challenge to create these five pieces of 100x50cm plates as a single bed etching. A task I thoroughly ended up enjoying. During the process of working on these etchings,  I was reading through the texts on Jainism - I based this work on the dreams of Trishala, the mother of Mahavira, the stories connected with his growing up, renunciation and liberation.

The work has been shown at the Kochi Biennale 2014, Venice Biennale 2015 and India Art Fair 2017.
